The Tartine Manufactory - San Francisco

Dreamy brunch in San Francisco

Another of my favourite spots in San Francisco was the Tartine Manufactory. One of two Tartine spots in the Bay Area, The Tartine Manufactory is the more edgy and modern of the two, occupying an industrial space brimming with creativity. We arrived just before 11am for brunch and a small queue had started to form. It didn’t take long for us to be seated however, maybe 10-15 minutes. The interior is dreamy. So light, airy and the perfect setting for a relaxed brunch. Scanning the menu, we almost had too much choice amongst pastries but upon a recommendation from a fellow patron we ordered a chocolate croissant and a morning bun. My advice to you? Order the morning bun. It’s sweet, sticky, zesty and my new favourite pastry. We also tried the granola which was really refreshing.

Tartine is known for it’s sourdough bread so we couldn’t leave without sampling it! With just a little butter the bread was delicious—the inside was salty and moist and the outer crust was baked to perfection. It’s no wonder really that Tartine’s original mission was to “bring bread with an old-soul into the lives of our friends and family in California.” I’d say they certainly succeeded. Tartine is a San Franciscan gem. After brunch we wandered around an independent arts and brands market which can be found just next door to the Tartine Manufactory. You can find handmade pottery, soaps, jewellery and chocolate here. Head over to the Dandelion chocolate stand for free dark chocolate tasters—I have to admit we spent our fair share of time here!
