Valencia - Lambrusqueria

Tucked away on a little side street of residential apartments, you’ll find a fabulous Italian restaurant called Lambrusqueria. I first discovered Lambrusqueria in 2015 during my year abroad in Valencia. I lived only a few streets away and it quickly became not only my favourite restaurant in Valencia, but my favourite restaurant ever.

What is so good about Lambrusqueria? For me, the restaurant encompasses all things that an exceptional restaurant should have; the perfect atmosphere, aesthetic and simple but incredible food and wine. As you approach Carrer del Comte d’Altea you are likely to hear the chatter of regulars dining al fresco. The owners of Lambrusqueria are the most welcoming people and even if there are no free tables available, they will bring one out and squeeze you in on the street. The service is quick and personable, with the waiters often speaking both Spanish and English. Fairy lights cover the facade, providing a magical setting to enjoy your food.

Let’s talk about the menu. Lambrusqueria serves quality, delicious Italian food so think salads, burrata (which is unbelievable!), cheese, cold meats and finally a selection of pasta. My go to is always Strozzapretti a la Ligure which contains basil, pesto, tomato and a lot of parmesan. The portions are sizeable which is ideal if, like me, you just can’t get enough. To wash down your meal they offer a selection of soft drinks and alcohol. I highly recommend sampling the Lambrusco which is a fizzy red wine and which pairs beautifully with pasta. I think Lambrusqueria also offer a dessert menu but honestly, I’ve always been so full after my main that I’ve never tried any, so if you go, let me know how they are!

Finally, if you can’t make it for dinner at Lambrusqueria, they have a lunch-time spot just around the corner on Carrer de Ciscar (which is the street I used to live on!). Lambrusqueria is honestly such a hidden gem and a must visit if you’re lucky enough to visit Valencia.
