Las Planchitas or “The ironings” in English is a traditional Mexican place in the Eixample neighborhood of Barcelona, an area planned and developed by Cerdá almost 200 years ago to modernize and expand the city of Barcelona.
Tacos campechanos
This place, owned and served by true Mexicans, follow their tradition from the beginning to the end. Starting with the music, the colors, the smells and of course, the food.
It is on Granados St., a really popular street full of stores and places to eat. It is cozy and no matter where you sit, you can see what’s being cooked in the kitchen.
La Planchita
The menu is 100% Mexican and everything is homemade, I am talking about tortillas and nachos hand kneaded.
I tried three of their products. First, some traditional tequila and mezcal that is served in a wonderful plate with slices of orange and pink pepper. Nice way to start! Then some Tacos Campechanos with four different fillings (Cochinita + Cancún + Patrón + Tinga) served with 4 different colored and flavored handmade tortillas. And to finish, the home dish, La Planchita, a hot tortilla with chicken and fresh cheese.
If you are in Barcelona and want to try a little bit of Mexico, go to La Planchita and taste the colorfulness of what they offer. You won’t regret it.
