Bondi Icebergs Pool 🏊 Sydney, AU 🇦🇺
Sydney, Australia
I love pools. I’ve always loved pools. Who doesn’t?
My only concern as I first approached Bondi’s iconic, surf-soaked Icebergs Club Pool was that I wouldn’t be able to experience it for myself…..as in, I wouldn’t be able to actually jump into the water. I figured that any facility that’s this famous couldn’t possibly allow entry to a random tourist walking past without any advance reservation. Certainly the most famous seawater pool in the world and one of Australia’s most photographed locations must only be open to a limited number of patrons and club members who book weeks in advance.
Nope! I walked up, paid my $8, and I was in.
The other patrons enjoying the pool during my visit seemed to be a healthy, happy mix of lap-swimming regulars and leisurely tourists. If there was a lifeguard on duty, he certainly didn’t spoil any of our fun; we each took a turn with a cannonball.
The most surprising aspect of the pool to me was its depth; the entire pool is quite deep, which may limit the type of leisurely float that you’re accustomed to. Clinging to the side of the pool as the Pacific waves crashed over us was something that I’ll never forget.
