Cape Charles
Wild and Free
I escaped today to a cape on the Eastern Shore with my daughter, her husband, and four children. Our toes sank in thick wet sand, and we climbed the breaker rocks and passed glistening sea grass searching for minnows and crabs.
I left my phone in the car on purpose. I wanted to just be with these little people. I couldn't help but give in after a few minutes though, because I had to capture their delight with photos as well as words.
This small town hugging the shore invites me to slow down, to breathe deeply, to let the salty wind blow my cares away. A leisurely walk to the Brown Dog Ice Cream shop and a double scoop of puppy tracks ends this day—the get-away day.
