Dolomites finest
A.K.A. The Backyard
As said in our previous blogpost, the Dolomites will treat you with one of the most amazing sceneries Europe has to offer. It is truly famous for its views, hiking possibilities, and therefore also on top of the bucketlist of every travel photographer!
In the previous blogpost we told more about Tre Cime and the beautiful area around it. We arrived at this national park in the dark, so we did not really see much of the surroundings. We hiked all the way around the three peaks for the best views at sunrise. It was not until we walked back to the parking lot, we suddenly saw the insane backdrop of a mountain range on the other side.
At that point we did not really know the name of this range, but we had seen pictures of it, and were so hyped to finally see it in person. We decided to get a closer look the next morning with sunrise. As said, we did not really knew the name of this place, so we called it the “the backyard”, because we had the best views out of the parking space of our van!
The next morning we had a short hike to get a better view of our backyard. From Refugio Auronzo, we hiked in the direction of this mountain range, the opposite direction of the three peaks (to the south). With the uprising sun, more and more of the mountains got visible. It really is as if you are looking at a painting; insanely beautiful. It is not possible to explain with words, just look at the pictures.
We were so excited to finally be here and see this picture in real life! And the best part; we were all alone. That is one of the great things of getting up before sunrise; not a lot of people do it! We walked around, took some great shots as the first light touched the mountains, and flew around with the drone. After a while we hiked back to the parking lot, still all by ourselves, and were enjoying the nice views of the three peaks from yet another angle. What a place!
