Kapas Biru Waterfall

Deep in the jungle

Kapas Biru

Like we’ve told before, during our travels we have visited many different waterfalls, all with their own charm. We wrote about Tumpak Sewu waterfall in East Java, which is BY FAR our favorite one. But sometimes it’s not the waterfall that makes the difference, but the surroundings and the way to get to it. That’s why i want to tell you a bit more about Kapas Biru Waterfall, which is easy to combine with Tumpak Sewu if you’re in East Java Indonesia!

What a place!

To get to Kapas Biru you’ve to hike for about 30 minutes through beautiful green sceneries. I’d say the hike isn’t that difficult but there are some sketchy parts with ladders. After 25 minutes you’ll reach some rice paddies where you hear the smashing sound of falling water already! You’re almost there!

On your left side you’ll see lots of palm trees and huge bamboo trees with Kapas Biru Waterfall in the back. The waterfall is about 100 metres high and the water sprays all over the place, so be prepared to get wet! Make sure to protect your camera gear if you bring some, cause you won’t be the first one with water damage.

Palm trees and red cliff! Palm trees and red cliff!

The surroundings of this waterfall are stunning! The cliff is colored red/orange and if your timing is right, sun rays will appear on top of the waterfall. This mainly happens between 11:00 and 12:00. I’d say this is a photographer paradise because of all the beautiful trees and plants in the area, in combination with the huge powerful waterfall.

Huge bamboo! Huge bamboo!

They built a few huts to chill and protect your stuff against getting totally soaked. It’s a beautiful place to chill for a while and without doubt an addition to your trip in East Java! It’s probably not the most impressive waterfall by itselves, but combined with the red rocks, the palm trees, bamboo trees and all the other plants in the area, it’s so different from anything i’ve seen before.

I somehow managed to fly my drone. This surely will give you an impression of this place! Check it out!
