Dining in Lefkada
Lefkada, Greece
Lefkada will appeal to fans of gastronomic cuisine due to the multitude of attractive restaurants and cafes all over the island. The most popular and visited places are located near Nidri
A must visit is Rachi, a restaurant situated at a height of 600 meters (1,969 ft) amongst the mountains of Exanthia, serving breathtaking views and minimalistic meals on the terrace. The restaurant is surrounded by a forest, which adds touch of tranquility. This is combined with an incredible sunset that will leave everyone speechless.
Rachi (“Ράχη” in Greek) is built on the slope of the mountain and has the most gorgeous views. Your experience will really depend on the time of your arrival, since the restaurant tends to be very calm during lunch time and crowded a bit later in the evening. When we arrived there was a long queue already, so we quickly put our names on the waiting list and made our way to the bar to grab a drink. After half an hour we were seated. The breathtaking view and the food was an absolute winner! Most of the dishes offered are traditional Greek recipes, are very reasonably priced and well prepared.
We were lucky enough to get a table in the front of their balcony and watch the sunset – one of the best ones in my entire life! If you ever visit Lefkada, make sure to include Rachi in your list of things to do – I’m sure you’ll love it as much as we did.
Cheerful and welcoming, the town of Lefkada includes a small harbour and a marina lined with restaurants, where they served tasteful fish plates and everybody can taste the delicacies of the island. While roaming around the little streets of Lefkas town there are some very nice restaurants. The menus have a variety of local and authentic options.
The memorable “Taverna” literally on the beach O Giannis, offers a great range of Greek delicacies. The view of the bay and little harbor near the bay, makes the evening special especially before the sunset. It is recommended for those who want to try a variety of dishes such as a traditional meze. A meze is not a meal course like an appetizer (although meze dishes can be served as appetizers), but rather a dish, hot or cold, spicy or savory, often salty, that is served alone or with other mezethes as a separate eating experience.
