Cabin Stays in Escalante
Where to stay in Grand Staircase-Escalante, Utah
If you're making plans to visit one of Utah's amazing slot canyons, Escalante is a great starting point for some of the most popular trails. It's a pretty small city, with under 800 residents, located in central Garfield County, on Byway 12. The drive to get there alone is really beautiful and even if you're not staying, it's worth taking this scenic route to simply enjoy the views on the way there.
Escalante Cabins & RV Park
We stayed for a couple of nights in Escalante Cabins & RV Park. We checked into one of 6 cosy cabins that are available on the site. Ours was a little on the smaller side at 225 sq ft, but there are larger cabins available that go up to 355 sq ft, with a kithenette and panoramic views.
After a number of nights in the tent, the cabin was a very welcome relief! With a microwave, fridge and coffee maker, it was luxury compared to what we had been getting used to. One of our favourite things was the surprise complimentary breakfast basket given on arrival and every morning during our stay. With pots of fruit, muffins and coffee pods, it was a lovely touch that made us feel at home.
You have a small private patio and bench outside of each cabin, plus a fire pit, with firewood available from reception. Inside, there's free wifi, a smart TV with netflix and other streaming services ready to sign in to, and both air conditioning and heating. The bed was super comfortable and the bathroom was spacious enough!
There are also laundry facilities below the reception, with books and games left for you to pass the time while you clean and dry your clothes!
What's Nearby
You're only a 23 minute drive (13.6 miles) from Zerbra Slot Canyon Trailhead, located on Hole in the Rock Road. Both Peek-A-Boo and Spooky Gulch are found further down the same road. You're also only a few minutes drive from Escalante Petrified Forest State Park and just over an hour from Bryce Canyon.
Where to eat
We reccommend Nemo's Drive Thru and their amazing Fry Sauce if you're looking for a quick bite. They have a nice selection of burgers, ice cream, and shakes to keep you happy!
P.S. There are plenty of shops, gas stations and other restaurants, within walking distance of your cabin. They will give you a long list of where you can walk to, plus a few other reccommendations, when you check in.
