Greatest Places to Go for Fun in the UK
Did you know?
“In 2024, 41% of overseas visitors came to Great Britain for a holiday, 34% to visit friends or relatives, 17% for business, and 8% for other reasons.” (UK Parliament)
As the New Year is right around the corner, one of the most common holiday plans among students from all around the world is to travel to new places. This is not a bad plan, as it not only refreshes your mind but also allows you to learn about new cultures and histories. However, when it comes to travelling around the world, the UK is one of the countries that pops up in every traveller’s mind.
Are you also planning a trip to the UK for your vacation? If so, then you might need a travel guide from an expert. But you don’t have to worry because I’m here to provide you with the best UK travel guide. I am a UK resident and have visited all four countries in the United Kingdom. Therefore, I will only discuss the best places to go for fun in the UK.
Are you ready to dive into the world of travel? Let’s begin!
England
Firstly, let’s begin with the most common destination for tourists across the UK. However, many people often wonder why London is the top tourist spot. Well, the answer is its perfect blend of history, culture, and glamour. You can visit its vibrant markets and theatres as well. In addition to this, if you are visiting London, you must definitely try its traditional food, Fish and Chips. It is a perfect mix of deep-fried fish, along with potato fries. You can get this from any local restaurant. Though I was born in Manchester, London remains the best place for me to visit for a holiday.
Here is a list of places that you can visit in London:
Tower Bridge
Buckingham Palace
The British Museum
London Eye
Tower of London
The National Gallery
Hyde Park
Camden Lock Market
However, you must ensure that all of your time is not spent in England’s capital, as there are many more places that you would love to visit in the UK.
Another place to visit in England is the iconic Lake District. Are you the person who loves to explore breathtaking scenery? If yes, then this is the best place for you to cherish the natural beauty. Moreover, this place is well-renowned for its rich literary legacy, as it inspired William Wordsworth to write Daffodils here. Additionally, it offers many fun opportunities for hiking, boating, shooting videos for social media, taking memorable pictures, and many more things. Furthermore, you can try its famous traditional dishes from local shops, which include Hardwick Lamb and Morecambe Bay Shrimps. For the dessert, try their famous Garsmere Gingerbread and Sticky Toffee Pudding. For me, the Lake District is the place I visit when I need to calm my mind and take a break from life.
Scotland
On the other hand, if you are a person who loves history, then this might be the best place for you. Edinburgh is famous for its historic architecture and rich cultural festivals. As Edinburgh is the place for numerous migrants, you get the chance to explore different cultures and traditions. Moreover, it is situated on an extinct volcano, making it a distinct place for travellers.
The following are some go-to places in Edinburgh:
Edinburgh Castle
The National Museum of Scotland
Camera Obscura and Word of Illusions
The Edinburgh Dungeon
The Real Mary King’s Close
Whenever I go to Edinburgh, my visit is incomplete without trying their traditional dish, Haggis with Neeps(mashed turnips) and Tatties(potatoes).
Northern Ireland
Additionally, you must also visit Belfast, which is the most popular tourist spot in Northern Ireland. This is one of my most favourite places due to its rich history, diverse culture, and scrumptious food. Moreover, it is the place where the famous Titanic was built. When you visit Belfast, don’t forget to try its comforting food. Though the overall variety of food is flavorful, my top three are Ulster Fry, Balfatst Pastie, and Irish Stew.
You can visit the following places to have fun in Belfast:
Titanic Belfast
St. George’s Market
Belfast Catle
Grand Opera House
Peace Wall
Wales
Cardiff is also known as the city of castles, primarily due to its landmark, Cardiff Castle. Moreover, if you are a die-hard sports fan, then this place must be at the top of your list. Cardiff is home to one of the most famous stadiums, Principality Stadium, which was formerly known as the Millennium Stadium. Besides that, it has the largest collection of Edwardian and Victorian arcades in Britain that are filled with independent boutiques, bars, and cafes. Whenever you visit Cardiff, don’t forget to try the Welsh national dish, Cawl.
However, you must keep in mind that this trip is indeed to refresh your mind, but it is crucial not to compromise on your studies. Whenever I go on any vacation, I make sure to have sufficient time to complete my assignments. Similarly, you must also plan your trip in a way that you can have fun and also complete your assignments. However, you can hire professionals to make the assignments easier for you. Whether you want to seek Law Assignment Help or Business Assignment Help, you can hire an expert who will help you with the format or research of your assignment.
Final thoughts!
All in all, the UK is one of the best holiday destinations for travel enthusiasts. However, youmust need a travel guide to ensure you visit the greatest places without wasting your time in places where there is nothing to do for fun. Besides that, it is also crucial that you manage your studies along with this fun. For that, you can use the travelling hours to work on your assignments. I hope that this guide will help you have fun in the best places across the UK.
