My Real-Life Story and Netravati Trek Forest Route Details
Reaching the Peak of the Western Ghats
Your day begins in the small town of Kalasa. From here, a short drive leads to the base of the trek near Samse. The air feels fresh and cold as you step into the Kudremukh Wildlife Division.
The first part of the climb is a walk through the deep Shola forests. These are ancient woods where the trees are short and covered in moss. The sunlight barely touches the ground. You will hear the sound of birds and distant streams. This part of the path is cool and shaded, which makes the climb easy and pleasant.
About an hour into the forest, you will find a small and beautiful waterfall. The water is clear and ice-cold. Many trekkers take a quick break here to splash water on their faces. It is the perfect spot to feel the silence of the mountains before moving to the open hills.
As you leave the forest behind, the scenery changes completely. Huge green hills appear in front of you. These are the famous grasslands of the Western Ghats. The path follows a narrow ridge. On a cloudy day, you will feel like you are walking on top of the clouds.
