Kofi Beans Croydon
An Adorable Day Trip from Melbourne’s CBD
Croydon itself is a lovely quaint suburb in the Eastern side of Melbourne, Victoria. It’s “Main Street” hosts many gorgeous restaurants, shops, bakery and cafes. My favourite go-to when I’m in the area is always Kofi Beans, with it’s photogenic decor and stunning little outside courtyard area, with little odd chairs and tables creating it’s rustic appeal.
How to get there
If you’re living in the city, it’s about a 30 min drive along the Eastern freeway, otherwise it’s a 42 minute train journey from Melbourne Central Station, and then a 5 minute walk to main street.
We got to Kofi Beans in the afternoon on a sunny yet chilly winter’s day and decided to sit in the courtyard in the sun - not only because of the great lighting for photos, but also because it was just so lovely! We had a delicious Melbourne quality coffee (from local boutique roasters Capulus and Community Roasters) whilst we caught up and chatted girl talk, before indulging in a vegan pizza and thick cut potato chips with vegan aioli.
Their food is all completely home made, with no short cuts or store bought ingredients or mixes, which is probably my favourite part about them. Their coffee selection is vast, and their food is wholesome, healthy and generous.
Inside is cozy and warm, with a worldly ambiance (perhaps that word came to mind because of the stunning map of the world created with coffee beans on the wall…).
After our pizza which was overflowing with pumpkin, rocket and almond feta, we decided to try something sweet and got the vegan chocolate brownie, which was irresistible. Incase you didn’t get the picture, this cafe is an awesome option for vegans! They have a huuuuge vegan menu, whereas most other places usually only have one or 2 options for us veggie lovers!
