Maya Restaurant at Shanaya Resort Patong
Patong’s Best Indian Food
On Thaweewong Road, hidden down a little fairy lit alleyway is one of the most gorgeous resorts in the area. At the resort there’s a beautiful Indian and Thai restaurant in a little courtyard with a cozy atmosphere and stunning decorations.
Right across from the beach, it's a stunning place to come after a long day of swimming or bargain shopping in Patong! If you come during the day you can have a dip in the surrounding pools and get some incredible photos amongst the Frangipani trees, and at night you can enjoy some delicious food under the fairy lights with a cocktail. The lighting and ambiance is especially romantic and warm.
I ordered the Paneer Acharri from the Indian menu and it was deliciously spicy, with a red saucy base and lots of tofu and veggies. I payed THB 200 (around $10 AUD) but they also had a 15% off promotion for low season.
My friends ordered a mixture of Western and Thai, including the Club Sandwich, Chicken Fried rice and Vegetarian Pad Thai. The portion sizes were pretty decent and they thoroughly enjoyed their meals.
The service was great, and the waiters seemed to understand our English requests and queries more than other restaurants seemed to. Indian music played in the background to add to the experience.
Most Restaurants in Thailand add a 10% surcharge for tax and a 7% surcharge for a service fee, so just be warned and prepare to pay an extra 17% on the entire meal when you go out! Also don't feel obliged to leave a hefty tip as this is included in the service fee.
