Shirley Heights Antigua
The 'high-light' of your visit.
I love to end my day on the island by visiting Shirley Heights, especially on Thursdays for Reggae night. The views over the Lookout to English and Falmouth Harbours are breathtaking where you could see the lights and activity down below, also known as 'The Lookout'. A visit to Shirley Heights is a must do while on the island and you could easily come up the mountain multiple times during your visit.
Watching the sunset while feasting on jerk chicken, lobster and more best paired with local Wadadli beer. Sunday BBQs are also fun but are way more crowded. From 4-10pm on Sundays, there is a barbecue, drinks, and local bands that play a mixture of Caribbean music and international hits from across the decades. A perfect opportunity to mix and mingle with both locals and visitors alike who equally enjoy the energy, fun, and music. The evenings are great for most ages, as there are covered picnic tables with lighting.
On select days, local vendors sell foods and other goods. There are also hiking trails nearby and plaques that give you some information on the history of Shirley Heights. Postcards and other gifts are available for sale as well during the early evenings.
Come early to snap photos of the sunset as well during the daytime, and pick your favorite spot to listen to the music. Don’t be surprised if you are up dancing the whole evening!
