Visiting Saint-Malo, France

Saint-Malo is a lovely little French town located in the Brittany region. When I visited Saint-Malo last summer, I was so impressed. The destination isn’t super popular among American tourists, but plenty of British people visit this beautiful town. Saint-Malo is a walled town, and it dates back to the first century BC!

This town has a storied history, and its known for being a pirate hotspot hundreds of years ago. There are so many things to do in this little city. I highly recommend visiting during the summer so you can take full advantage of its coastal location. The city has several natural pools and beaches that are really popular during the summer.

Spend a day wandering through the walled city, window shopping at the local boutiques. Be sure to try a kouign amann while you visit. This buttery, rich pastry is one of the staples in this region!

If you’re looking for an amazing meal out, go to the Bistrot Autour du Beurre. This restaurant is dedicated to the Beurre Bordier- an esteemed butter made in the shop next door. I really enjoyed the two days I spent in Saint-Malo, and I’d love to go back one day! Saint-Malo is a great place to stay if you want to take a day trip to Mont-Saint-Michel!
