Namaste Right Here
Little India, Singapore
From the smells of flower garlands, incense, exotic fruit, aloo gobi, and garlic naan, Little India is a fragrant place. It is bursting with colors, murals, Instagram photo spots, and many Hindu temples within a small radius.
While walking around and going through the shops, I heard the sound of singing bowls, mantras, chants, and Indian music. I saw a Puja ceremony at one of the many temples I visited.
If you are going to the temples in Little India, there are signs that show examples of what to wear. This means that you should wear clothing that covers your shoulders and knees. You will be asked to remove your shoes before entering the temples, so it's best to wear shoes that can be easily removed. (Oops! I forgot to paint my toes!)
Little India has a bunch of shops where you can purchase handmade goods, such as Sarees, headpieces, scarfs, incense and more.
Fun Fact: Tan Teng Niah is actually a Chinese villa
My favorite part about little India is the food. It's vegetarian-friendly so you won't have a problem if you are a vegetarian. Since I am a vegetarian, I was in paradise. For a day and a half I ate, chickpea curry, garlic naan, samosas, basmati rice, and thosai. Thosai is like a rolled pancake with various dipping sauces. It costs less than $2 USD. The cheapest food is always the best food, in my opinion. If you go to Singapore, Little India is a must do on your list. If you have questions, let me know!
