Veg Food In Taipei
Taipei, Taiwan
Taipei is nothing but short of vegetarian or vegan foods. Taipei is considered to be one of the most veg-friendly cities in the world, let alone Asia.
Here is a list of my favorite vegetarian and vegan-friendly restaurants in no particular order.
The Green Room has Vegan Thai food. How can you not turn that down? The Green Room has Thai curry served in large coconut bowls, pad thai, spring rolls and lunch specials. They also have set menus for different sized parties.
Miss Green is one of my favorites and a popular vegan place. It has burgers, salads, rotating desserts, kombucha made in house, Buddha bowls, and much more. I have been here about five times, and everything I ordered is delicious. They also serve brunch and set menus for a different number of guests like the Green Room.
Miss Green and The Green Room are both sister vegan restaurants and owned by the same people.
Ooh Cha Cha is my go-to quick place since it is right by the Guting Orange and Green Line MRT, which is near my home. Ooh Cha Cha is vegan and similar to Miss Green since it has, burgers, sandwiches, bowls, salads, smoothies. However, it is a eat and go place since the establishment is quite small.
Kiwi Gourmet Burgers (KGB) is another right place for veg options. It is not a veg restaurant, hence the name. However, it has a bunch of options for vegetarians and vegans. They make their bean patties in house, along with vegan aioli as well. The fries come separately with the possibility of regular or garlic flavored. The bun is not vegan, but you can get it wrapped in lettuce. They have a lot of options to add on, such as vegan bacon.
Love smoothies bowls? Amavie has beautifully designed acai and smoothie bowls beautifully decorated to you on a nautical tray, flower arrangement and a side of almond nuts.
Wo shi su shi. 我是素食。I am vegetarian. Taipei is notorious for having endless vegetarian buffets all over town.
If you put 素食 into your Google maps, it will show you vegetarian restaurants because it means vegetables or vegetarian. However, it does not guarantee vegan or an English menu. You can also look for the Buddhist symbol walking around. Buddhist vegetarian means no garlic, onion, or any root vegetables. You grab a tray, tongs and put food on your plate and pay however much it weighs.
The most I ever paid was $150 NTD, which is about $5 USD for a TON of food.
