Bauxite pit

Near Otranto there’s a fantastic place that I love: the bauxite pit. It’s not so far from the city center of Otranto and you can even get to it on foot (if you love walking).

It is a former pit where apulian workers used to take aluminium in the 70s but now nature has taken over creating a lake in it. it’s a very peaceful place where you can feel like Walking On Mars.

Ps Otranto is a small city that you must visit. The cathedral has the biggest mosaic in the worlds on the floor and the sea is crystal clear
