Next Stop! East Java
The next stop on our trip was the place I was looking forward the most, Bromo National Park in East Java. After a full day of traveling we arrived in our hotel close to Bromo. It is the only conservation area in Indonesia that has a sand sea. The sea of sand is a sandy plane which you have to cross in order to get to the view points. It basically is the caldera of an ancient volcano from which four new volcanic cones have emerged.
We woke up really early to make sure we would not miss a single moment of good light. We drove up in these very cool Jeeps to the top view point where we waited for about three hours in the dark for the sun to rise. It was such a magical moment when the first morning glow appeared and you could see the patterns and volcanoes. The place got very crowded but it wasn’t too bad as everyone had  enough space and a good view on the surroundings. Make sure to get there early in the morning to avoid the crowds.
