Camping on Max Patch (NC)

After a static month of not leaving my apartment much, I woke up one morning and texted a few friends to see if they wanted to get lost in the Smoky Mountains for a few days. I gathered up some equipment and waited for both of them to get off work and we hit the road.

From Nashville, Max Patch is about a 4 hour drive so when we arrived it was dark. Luckily for us I had been here a few times before, which made navigating in the dark a little easier.

Max Patch is a bald on the North Carolina side of the Great Smoky Mountains! You get a 360 view of the Smoky/Blue Ridge Mountains and it is probably the easiest hike I've done - it's about a ten minute walk from the trailhead to the summit.

We set up camp, made a fire, had a drink, and talked for a little bit before finally crashing at 2am. Since we were getting up for sunrise, it was more so of a nap. 10/10 suggest getting up for sunrise here, it's crazy beautiful.

After we took some photos, we took a quick nap, packed up, and headed out to get lost in the mountains for the day.
