S Hotel Jamaica
Montego Bay meets Miami Beach...
I had been hearing rumors about a swanky new hotel opening in Montego Bay at the beginning of 2019. In the many years of traveling to Jamaica, there was never a desire to vacation in Montego Bay. Instead we always do the three hour drive to the Blue Mountains and recently to Oracabessa Bay. Not one to be a fan of all inclusive hotels or touristy towns, it just was never on my list, Montego Bay. Its been a dreary long winter here in New York City and I dedided a much needed winter break was in order. It would be my husband, thirteen year old son and I. Only four days to spare, we needed a gorgeous beach, stylish digs and a short drive from the airport.
S Hotel Jamaica fit all our criteria. Sparkly new with a South Beach Vibe ( Miami ) overlooking the famous Doctors Cave Beach. Literally a ten minute taxi drive from Sangster International Airport, the vibe as you walked in to the hotel is breezy, stylish and laid back. Hotel owner Christopher Issa, who also owns the Spanish Court Hotel in Kingston commissioned local artists to contribute their work and its beautifully displayed throughout the hotel. I absolutely love the hotels private cafe with its dark moody interior and killer blue mountain coffee. Its such a great concept to have a cafe for reading and relaxing.
We booked an ocean view sky club suite. Pricier than the average rooms because it always access to the Sky Deck. A sleek space with views, a pool with glass overlooking the sea. Our suite had stunning views from a lovey balcony, a sexy bathtub, double rain showers and a turngable with the copy of the Bob Marley album “ Legend .”
The S Hotel Jamaica calls itself “South Beach with an irie vibe.” The sky deck is a rooftop experience that gives you all of these feels. The sexy bar, sun loungers and a pool enclosed in glass for the perfect “gram” picture.

The hotel cradles Montego Bay’s famous Doctor’s Cave Beach. The beach is public but there is an area in front of the hotel with service to guests for complimentary sun beds.
The cuisine at the hotel was not good. The rum punch was horrible. I really hope the hotel improves its bar program. There were a few cool places near the hotel to have a fantatsic meal. We did enjoy the daily breakfast that was included in the room price.
