Drinks at Saigon Saigon Cocktail Bar
After a long warm day in Ho Chi Minh City, before called Saigon, we went to a rooftop cocktail bar, called Saigon Saigon
The bar is inside the Caravelle Hotel. The building housed the Australian Embassy during the Vietnam War and served as a communications hub for foreign correspondents.
You will have to take the elevator to arrive at the top of this ten-story building, opened in 1959.
On the morning of August 25, 1964, at around 11:30 am, a bomb exploded in room 514, on a floor occupied mostly by foreign journalists, who were all out on assignment.
This place is full of history, and at the entrance, you will find a lot of great black & white photos that will help you understand the past of this place.
The cocktail menu is fantastic and served in beautiful glasses.
To enjoy this place to the fullest, you need to arrive a bit before the sunset. That way you have a view of a clear sky:)
And by getting there early, you will arrive in time for happy hour.
You will be able to see the entire Saigon skyline, from the traditional buildings to the more modern buildings.
The hotel is also just next door to the grand opera; you will not be disappointed, trust me.
One of the best cocktail bars I have been to, and I have been to many..
