Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre
Today we went to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre in the Malaysian Sabah District of North Borneo to hang out with some Orangutans
Sepilok is considered by the Wildlife Department to be a useful educational tool with which to educate both the locals and visitors alike; however, there are a few rules.
Firstly, you have to leave your backpack in a locker and take only your camera. Since the animals love to steal things from the tourists, there is no food allowed.
Secondly, visitors are restricted to walkways and are not allowed to approach or handle the primates.
The day begins with a screening of the story of the origin of the sanctuary for a few minutes. After this, you will enter the rainforest, where colossal trees surround you.
Then a guide will direct you to the feeding area where a man comes with bananas, coconuts, and some other fruits to feed the animals.
Four orangutans descended from the trees to eat the food, which was so amazing. They also succeeded to open a coconut with their bare hands.
We take so many photos; I wish I had a bigger zoom. But if you have a zoom bigger than 400 mm you will have to pay an expensive fee.!
