Tanah Lot
Tanah Lot Temple is probably the most popular and photographed temple on the island which located in coastal side of Beraban countryside, Kediri sub district and Tabanan Regency
Tanah Lot Temple stands for earth (Tanah) and sea (Lot), quite appropriate considering its spectacular setting on top of an impressive rock overlooking the sea.
It is home to the ancient Hindu pilgrimage temple Pura Tanah Lot, a popular tourist and cultural icon for photography.
After a long day on the beach, we discovered this place, apparently very famous for watching the sunset.
Entrance tickets cost $1.42 for Indonesian nationals, but foreigners have to pay three times the price, or $4.26.
After a short walk to access the seaside, we finally arrived and found a great viewing spot. Its one of seven ocean temples on the coast of Bali that create a sort of spiritual bulwark against bad vibes rolling on the ocean currents.
Pura Tanah Lot is built on the rock with 3 acre size and reachable within a few minutes by walk, because it is just 20 meters from the coastal lip. Tanah Lot Temple is simply among Bali’s not-to-be-missed icons.
At the base of the rocky island, venomous sea snakes are believed to guard the temple from evil spirits and intruders. This is an extremely popular tourist destination and the whole area is often very busy indeed, especially in the late afternoons, pre-sunset.
If you want to have a fantastic day you can also go for dinner at one of the restaurants on Sunset Terrace.
You can only access it during low tide, so be careful.
