Cairo's Highlights

Now, you have entered the land of the oldest civilization in the world “umm al dunya” (The mother of the world) . Of course you are curious to know how these people used to live, what made their culture so mysterious and unique till that day. So now, forget about the modern hub and look beyond it. Let's start our tour with the capital of umm al dunya, Cairo.

1. Pyramids and sphinx (Giza)

You can't miss the three pyramids and the sphinx trip when you are in Cairo. This spectacular spot holds so many stories which wow the travellers from all over the world. Riding camels and horses is one of the best ways to tour this place, which will make it unforgettable. It is located in the side of Cairo specifically in Giza. People usually go there by taxi or by metro if they want the cheapest option.

2.Khan El Khalili

Starting from 1400 AD, This one in a million Egyptian bazaar is a historical spot and a shopping place as well. In Khan El Khalili you will find a wide variety of Egyptian products and traditional crafts. Not only this, but you will also enjoy watching the craftsmen doing their thing. Walking on this street, put in mind that this won't be your last time as it will leave a part of it in your heart.

3. The citadel and Mohamed Ali mosque

Going back to the Fatimid era, Cairo's citadel was built by Salah El Din in 1176. The most well known thing there is Mohamed Ali mosque, it is a tall white stoned building. This building resembles the majesty of the Fatimid architecture in a spectacular way. After you finish your tour in the mosque, outside the restaurant, you will be amazed by the breathtaking view of Cairo. There will be a spot where you will see the whole city.

4. Sultan Hassan Mosque

If you want to witness the most important structure in the mamluks history, you shouldn't miss Sultan Hassan mosque. A huge door at its entrance will take you inside where you can see and touch the finest details of the mosque that will -definitely- take you back to the ancient times.

5.Azhar Park

After a long day of sightseeing and after you're done with the noise and crowd of this city, you can escape in one of its most beautiful places that is well known for its greenery and nature. You will also find a variety of local restaurants that will leave you with a happy tummy.

6.Downtown Cairo

Remember when this city was named “Paris of the East”? If you are energetic, and it's not too hot, you can walk through downtown Cairo and enjoy the finest details of its buildings, statues and streets. In Downtown Cairo, the streets are filled with shops and restaurants which will make your time more fun and interesting.

7. Opera house

You don't get to know the country until you witness its music. If you want to know this city a bit more, you have to listen to its music and witness its art. Cairos Opera House was the first music house to be built in Africa. This was when Khedive Ismail gave the order to build a place where they can celebrate the opening of the Suez canal. On the opening day, famous world musical masterpieces were artistically performed. Until this day, Opera House is one of the most unique and decent places where you can listen to master pieces and watch different kunfùds of arts and performances.

8. Manyal palace

One of the highlights of the ottomans era was the Manyal palace. It was built by the uncle of King farouk and it remained private for a long time until it has been opened to the public. What is unique about this building is that its designs include a mix of the european and arabic architecture which makes it a masterpiece.
