Cascais, Perfect Getaway From Lisbon
Althoug Portugal's capital, Lisbon, is a beautiful city to visit, it is also the busiest and most crowded in the country. There are countless things to do for all ages and not a place you quickly get bored when visiting. But, understandably, you might want to get away from the crowds for a few days, and in that case, visiting the nearby town of Cascais is the perfect solution.
Just 30-minutes by car from Lisbon, Cascais is easily reachable yet a different world to Lisbon. In Cascais, you get a peaceful and calm vibe instantly, even while walking through the city center. Lots of cute boutique stores and fantastic restaurants to enjoy.
Cascais has several nice beaches to visit which aren't too crowded, one of them which is a must is, Praia do Guincho. From Cascais you also have easy access by car to some of the highlights if Portugal such as the magical town of Sintra, Estoril and Cabo da Roca.
I stayed at Hotel The Oitavos which is around 10-minutes by car from Cascais city center, and I had a lovely time. The resort has a gorgeous infinity pool, gym, indoor pool and spa, and several high-quality restaurants.
If you are interested in golfing; this is also the place to be. You have direct access to the golf court which are just steps from the hotel lobby; it can't get any better.
The hotel has bicycles available to discover all the beautiful surrounding areas and very close by you have the Guincho beaches which are great for surfing.
The rooms are all very spacious, many of them having bathtubs with spectacular views. They all have a large balcony to watch the sunset while drinking a glass of Portuguese wine. My favorite part of the room is their beds which are super king-sized and the most comfortable I have ever experienced.
If you are planning a trip to Lisbon, it's a great idea to add a couple of days to Cascais and get the best of both worlds!
