Santorini, Heaven On Earth!
Europe has such fabulous places! My absolute favorite so far might be the Greek Islands in the summer. So far, I have visited Santorini and Mykonos and already look forward to exploring the other islands in the future
My stay in Santorini was nothing short of perfect. I went for four days, which is an ideal amount of time to enjoy all the highlights this island has to offer. The best and easiest way to get around here is either by renting a scooter or car. I rented a car, and it was super easy to drive to all the places and find parking too.
Santorini is full of spectacular boutique hotels, but also has plenty of good options if you are on a budget. The towns I recommend staying in are Fira, Imerovigli or Oia. These are all ideally located and offer stunning scenery and atmosphere.
My favorite part of the island is the charming town of Oia. You can easily spend a full-day walking around, exploring all the cute little alleyways through the perfect white houses, and the typical churches with the blue domes. Plenty of stores too to buy souvenirs, clothes and accessories, and countless places to have lunch with the best views. I highly recommend getting some ice cream at Lolita’s Gelato, as this was some of the best ice cream I have ever tasted.
From Oia, you can easily walk to Amoudi Bay, which is a super cute spot right at the waterfront, with great restaurants for lunch or dreamy dinners.
On another day, visit Fira, which is the capital of Santorini. It’s the biggest town on the island but still has a lot of gorgeous streets to walk around, and like most of the country, great food and drinks! I would revisit Greece just for its Cappuccino Freddo’s, in my opinion, the best coffee in the whole world :)
Close to Fira is the town of Imerovigli, which is a small town but very romantic. The perfect place to have dinner one night.
Further away, so you need transportation to visit, is the Santo Winery, where you can have a tasting of Greek wines with some tapas. Then continue down south and visit the prehistoric village Akrotiri, and close by you will find the White Beach and Red Beach, which are both worth a visit.
Santorini gets very touristic in high season, so I visited in the shoulder season, which was the perfect choice! This way you can avoid a bit of the crowd and have the time and summer of your life..
