Exploring Australia's Sunshine Coast

1. We took a 17 day road trip around Australia and the Sunshine Coast was one of our favorite spots. Our top seven recommendations includes a stop at Noosa Heads. This chic coastal town boasts upscale dining and shopping, world class surf beaches and stunning nature trails.

2. There are so many great places to spot wildlife along the Sunshine Coast. The best place to see Koala Bears is at the Noosa National Park. The best place to spot kangaroos is actually at the golf courses. They are often found hopping around the Palmer Resort and Twin Waters Golf Clubs. And Coolum Beach is the best place to find Loggerhead Turtles.

3. Carlo Sand Blow is a massive sand dune that overlooks the ocean. It is the perfect spot for sand sledding and building sand castles. Or just sit and watch the sunset from one of the world’s largest sandboxes.

4. Tin Can Bay is one of the few places in the world where you can hand feed wild dolphins. It is home to a pod of 9 wild Australian Humpback Dolphins. They swim into the bay every morning for their breakfast. You can purchase fish to feed the dolphins at the Barnacles Dolphin Center.

5. Frasier Island is the largest sand island in the world and is listed as a World Heritage Site. It is also the only place in the world where rainforests grow on sand dunes. You can book a tour or take the ferry to the island for overnight camping or a day trip.
