A Day Trip on Catalina Island
How to spend a day on California's Catalina Island
We went on a girl’s cruise and one of the ports was Catalina Island. We fell in love with the charming town of Avalon.
Crescent Avenue is the main pedestrian walkway. The beach front road is lined with cute cafes and shops overlooking Avalon Bay.
Take a stroll along the boardwalk, buy some souvenirs, and grab some ice cream at Lloyd’s Confectionery to eat on the beach.
If you head over to the pier, you’ll find a variety of tour companies offering excursions. Tours include snorkeling, parasailing, kayaking, glass bottom boat tours, and jet ski rentals.
We opted for the Frog Rock Kayak Tour. The guide leads you along the rugged coast line where you can see sea lions and other wildlife. Lover’s Cove is the best spot for snorkeling on the island, next time we would love to take a boat tour there!
We also rented golf carts to explore around the island. There is a 12-mile scenic loop that takes about one hour to complete. The cost for a golf cart is $45/hour with seating for four.
You can also take a one hour ferry ride from Long Beach California to reach the island. Other popular things to do on Catalina Island are hiking, taking a jeep or zipline tour, visiting the Catalina Casino or spending the day at the Descanso Beach Club.
With so many things to do, I’m sure you will love your day on the beautiful Catalina Island!
