Orange County California

Fun things to do as a family in Orange County

Orange County California is the perfect spot for a family vacation. Beautiful weather, miles of beaches, fantastic parks, and kid-friendly activities.

One of our favorite things to do in Orange County with kids is to visit the Balboa Fun Zone and Balboa Island. Balboa Island is a charming man-made island that was created in the early 1900s. Take the $1 ferry ride to the island where you can stroll along Marine Avenue and stop at Dad’s Donut & Bakery Shop for a Balboa Bar.

We also love renting bikes to ride along the paved path from Newport Beach to Huntington Beach 3 miles away. We’ll stop and play in the surf, eat at one of the oceanfront cafes, or soak in the sunset.

Heritage Play Park Island is one of our favorite parks. The park sits on a man-made island surrounded by a moat. It is made up of a cluster of colonial style buildings with playgrounds hidden in each one, like a tunnel slide from the top of the church!

The Irvine Spectrum center has a Ferris Wheel that is lit up at night. Rides are only $5 and offers beautiful views of the city.

In the Fall, we love riding the giant helium balloon decorated like a jack-o-lantern at Great Park. Tickets are only $10 for adults and free for kids.

Irvine Regional Park is also a fun place to visit in the fall. They have a pumpkin patch, hay maze, and petting zoo.

Crystal Cove State Park is another favorite beach in Orange County. With 3.5 miles of coastline, your bound to find a secluded beach. And if you’re lucky, you can reserve one of the historic seaside cottages!

Orange County California is the perfect vacation spot any time of year!
