Lunch At Captain Moonlite
High Tides and Good Vibes
Captain Moonlite is an eatery and bar all about delicious food, tasty wine and above all... good vibes. Housed within the Anglesea Surf Life Saving Club (one of the Surf Coast's best kept secrets) Captain Moonlite is tucked into the cliff-edge overlooking the Anglesea surf beach and further afield toward Point Addis & Port Phillip Heads.
Chef Matt Germanchis (Pei Modern, MoVida, Pandora's Box) and partner Gemma Gange (Pei Modern, Jacques Reymond, Stokehouse) have taken over the dining room of an mildly neglected surf lifesaving club, one that sports an unbeatable beach view and a gorgeous modern dining room and menu.
We started with a Pa Pa Pinot Noir that is served chilled (as it should be!) Pa Pa is super juicy, simple and fun. A great, light summer red. It paired amazing with our seafood dishes!
Any resolution not to photograph everything you eat will be tested often here.
We enjoyed lightly dusted wakame prawns that had such a diverse and interesting flavor.
Our absolute favorite dish were the chunky pieces of calamari. They were scored, lightly coated in a semolina batter, deep-fried and served over frisée salad with sesame dressing.
And how can one forget the chips! (Not french fries)
