Where to sleep in Viñales, Cuba
Viñales is a Tobacco farming area located in the east coast of Cuba. The ride there is about 4 hours long from La Habana.
There aren't many hotels in the area so, it's best if you rent a shared houses or "Casa Particular". These are houses from the local people, but, adapted for tourists. Since it is a good source of income, they will take care of you very well.
We read on a travel guide, that Doña Hilda was one of the best in Viñales. Her house is right at the entrance of Viñales and really close to the center.
On our arrival, we met Doña Hilda, I would say the best shared house in Viñales but, we only went to 1. However, I can say it was the best shared house we rented in Cuba!
The room is not a big thing, but you have to consider you're in the middle of the Cuban jungle, in some else's house. The shower was great, the beds super clean and the food there incredible. They will serve you a complete breakfast in the morning with fresh fruit and juices. However, be cautious about the fruit and juice in Cuba. When they clean the fruit they do it with tap water and sometimes it can cause stomach ache.
Doña Hilda is a lady over her 50’s that has a house with 4 individual rooms, right at the entrance of Viñales. Ana, her granddaughter, took care of us the whole time.
She even makes these treats I can't remember the name but, it was like fried bread with sugar. It was like a desert, and it was delicious!
If you ever go to Viñales, this is the place to stay!
