Highway Restaurant & Bar - East Hampton
Our Review by Hero Traveler @eastendtaste
Known for its well-crafted menu, unique nightly specials, and fresh organic ingredients is Highway Restaurant and Bar, located off of Montauk Highway in East Hampton. Chef Justin Finney creates sumptuous specials throughout the week like Chicken Pot Pie Mondays and Thai Thursdays, all in addition to their upscale New American menu with urban and global influences that features a variety of dishes that pay tribute to the bounties of the East End.
To start, we had the following cocktails: Very Berry Fizz with Tito’s Vodka, Blueberry Jasmine Syrup, Lime, Soda ($17); and Pineapple Daiquiri with Diplomatico Planas Rum, Pineapple Juice, Lime ($16). Non-alcoholic beverages include a Blueberry Limeade (similar to the Very Berry Fizz), and Plain-T Mango Iced Tea.
Beers on draught include Blue Moon Belgium White, Montauk Wavechaser IPA, Guinness Stout, Stella Artois Pilsner, New Belgium Fat Tire Amber, and Coney Island Mermaid Pilsner. Many of their wines are from California, France, Germany, Italy, and Argentina.
We ordered the following plates:
Steamed Pork Buns with spicy red cabbage slaw ($18)
Ricotta Toast: Acorn Squash, Hazelnuts, Chili, Mint ($16)
Spit Roasted Organic Chicken with sweet potato puree ($34)
Linguine with fresh local clams ($32)
For dessert, we had the Pavlova with lemon curd and blackberry sorbet ($14) with a pot of Mint decaf herbal tea ($5). There are a variety of teas from Plain-T on the menu, including Earl Grey, English Breakfast, Rooibos Maracuja, and Green Jasmine Phoenix Pearls.
Our experience is always top-notch when we visit Highway Restaurant. Our favorite was the Ricotta Toast, and my husband always orders the Linguine. This was my first time having the Roasted Chicken and I could see right away why it is so popular. Every time I have come to dine at Highway Restaurant, at least one guest in our party would order the Chicken and they would always rave about it.
Highway Restaurant and Bar is currently open for dinner everyday beginning at 5 pm, and for brunch on Sundays beginning at 11 am. Friday and Saturday open until 10:30 pm and until 10 pm Sunday-Thursday.
