This 1200 year-old city used to be the Japanese imperial capital 150 years ago. An elegant city whith a classic japanesse style.
There are more than a 1000 temples in Kyoto so you can stumble upon some of these just by walking around your hotel.
One of the most visited and famous temples is the Fushimi Inari temple which is famous for the numerous Toriis (orange gates).
These gates represent doors to the spiritual world. The emblematic orange color is used to keep evil spirits and demons away, it is also a color that resists wear.
It is likely to have many visitors but if you wait for the right moment it is possible to take a good photo. This Temple is open 24 hours, so if you are looking por photo you could visit at first light or in the night without people.
The Nijo-jo castle is a must see location in Kyoto since it is one of the most famous places in Japan, the ancient residence of the Shogun who was the ruler of Japan is a world heritage site. This impressive building is surrounded by mind blowing gardens and it is full of history.
The Yasaka temple is worth visiting at night so you can see the Japanese lamps that illuminate the main courtyard.
Kyoto is full of surprises and beautifull places that doesn't sease to surprise you.
