If you happen to find yourself in Cairo and have one more day to spare, Alexandria in Egypt is worth a visit. Unlike Giza, it does not have momentous monuments like the Pyramids to show for, but it does have a great waterfront view, and is a refuge from the chaos of downtown Cairo.
If you ask me, Alexandria is perhaps, the less pushy, cooler sister of Cairo. It was a significant place during our trip because it is where we met the ‘The most honest taxi driver in all Egypt’, and, that’s quite a rarity in this age. Here are five reasons why Alexandria in Egypt is worth a visit:

As there is 32 kilometres of coast line in Alexandria, it would be wise to make sure you have transport to get around the city. Some places are central and its easy enough to walk along the Corniche to access them. But some attractions like the Montazah palace are further afield.
