This eye catching building has firmly established itself as a favourite backdrop for tourist photos in Singapore, but it’s also got an interesting history as it used to be a large police station. Now it’s a government building, better known as an Instagrammer’s dream backdrop! The palette of colours attracts people from around the world to take photographs outside and walk the length of the attractive facade.
Built in a neo-classical style, the huge building dominates the area and, although small by modern standards, it’s six stories were considered to class as a skyscraper when it was built! The location is relatively central within Singapore so it’s not hard to work a visit into your itinerary before exploring more of the city.
An impressive 927 windows are what gives Old Hill Police Station it’s distinctive look, painted in the colours of the rainbow. It’s vibrancy is why it has become such an iconic backdrop to visitors photos; this is more of an art installation than a building. If you’re after that Insta worthy shot then visit early in the morning, especially on Sunday’s, as the best vantage point is across the street and traffic at this time is much lighter.
