What To Do In Yangon
One of Myanmar’s most important city
If you are flying to Myanmar, you will probably land in Yangon, where the main airport is. Many people just skip the city and move somewhere else, but Yangon actually it is worthy of at least two-three days.
Why? There is a reason if it used to be the capital of Myanmar!

SHWEDAGON PAGODA
The most important religious site in Myanmar is the huge Shwedagon Pagoda, whose golden dome became one of the symbols of the country.
The pagoda is the Buddhist centre par excellence in Myanmar and everyday is filled with lines of devoted people.

The best way is to go there in the late afternoon, so it won’t be too hot (since you need also to climb a long staircase) and stay until it gets dark. The Pagoda will be all beautifully lighted up and from the top you can enjoy the view of the city.
The entrance fee is MMK 10,000.
Remember to get your shoulders and your legs covered up to your ankles, so bring a scarf or a long skirt.

HAVE A TOUR AROUND THE CITY
The street of Yangon are very chaotic and busy, but above all, buses working quite well (but not in the rush hour!), so they are a good way to get around.
Taxis are also not expensive at all.

So you can take a walk around the main neighborhood like Chinatown or Kyauktada Township, which is considered downtown. Don’t forget to check out Yangon City Hall, a very important landmark of the city.
If you prefer a nice walk near to the Kandawgyi lake and have a walk inside Kandawgyi Park.
Inya lake is another nice spot where you can stroll around, away from the bustle of the city.

DELICIOUS AND CHEAP FOOD
Food, the last but not the least important, is another reason why Yangon deserves to be visit for few days.
Street Food is top-notch: vendors are mostly everywhere, selling all type of noodles, pancakes, omelettes, spring roll, cakes…

You can easily get a pot of noodles for 60 cent!
If you really want to experience the uniqueness of the street food in Yangon, then go to Chinatown in the evening, on 19th Street.
The street gets filled with people everyday, especially locals, who gather together to eat around the same table. Are you ready to try delicious meat and fish barbecue? The variety of choices is definitely overwhelming!
