Mahalo
Hawaiian culinary experience in the center of Rome
After days of binge eating Italian food in Rome, I wanted to try something unique and different?
If you are near Ponte Milvio you need to check out Mahalo - South Pacific Fine Food (Via Flaminia 496B1). Adorned with simple and colorful furnishings, combined with dishes that are new to the culinary market of Rome topped off with excellent service.
The restaurant is small but the interior illustrates such attention to detail. The color is vibrant and strong and resembles a rainbow. When you enter, the wall that rises immediately to the right is covered with dark green plants that make you feel like you’re in a jungle. The room is littered with many objects from Hawaii and items that represent Hawaiian symbolism.
Once inside you are greeted with a wreath of flowers, LEI (in Hawaiian), which are also given to tourists upon arrival at the airport as a sign of peace and welcome. I tried a "sushi hamburger" called Kamano Fried Burger (fried rice, marinated salmon, sesame, tropical fruit, spring onion, wakame, cucumber, sweet potato, and spicy mayo). The presentation of the dish is very accurate and the result is a paradise for the palate, with a combination of flavors that were nicely combined. A nice place with a unique menu and a surprisingly low price point considering the area. I absolutely recommend trying this place, I guarantee you will be pleasantly surprised like me!
