HUE DMZ TOUR ITINERARY
Morning:
Your DMZ tour begins at 8:00 a.m., when our driver will pick you up from your hotel or homestay in Hue. The first stop is La Vang Holy Land, a sacred pilgrimage site for Catholics in Vietnam, where the Virgin Mary is believed to have appeared in 1798.
Next, we’ll meet your knowledgeable tour guide in Dong Ha City. Continuing along Highway 9, we visit Rock Pile Hill, a key U.S. military lookout from 1966 to 1968, offering control over Vietnamese military movements.
On the way, we stop at Dakrong Bridge, an important part of the Ho Chi Minh Trail. If time allows, you may catch a glimpse of Hamburger Hill, another iconic battle site.
The tour then takes you to the Khe Sanh Combat Base, where the North Vietnamese Army launched a major offensive in early 1968. We’ll then stop for lunch at a local restaurant before continuing the journey.
Afternoon:
After lunch, we’ll visit the historic Ben Hai River and Hien Luong Bridge, marking the division between North and South Vietnam after the Geneva Agreement. A white line on the bridge symbolizes this once-bitter divide.
Finally, we arrive at the Vinh Moc Tunnels, an underground complex where local villagers lived to escape American bombings. The tunnels, 30 meters deep, include wells, kitchens, family rooms, meeting spaces, and even healthcare areas. Seventeen children were born in these tunnels during the war.
