Robba - A Taste of Ljubljana
Traditional Slovenian dishes meet fresh flavors
Ljubljana is one of Europe’s most underrated food destinations. Slovenian food is a vibrant mix of Mediterranean and Central European cuisine that incorporates flavors like garlic, truffle, and more to a variety of dishes. I loved every meal that I had in Slovenia, but my favorite restaurant by far is Robba.
Located in the Old Town, Robba is an adorable restaurant that combines traditional Slovenian flavors with fresh new dishes. I liked it so much that I went two times during my time in Ljubljana, which is saying a lot as I normally want to try as many restaurants as possible when traveling! If you can, I recommend sitting outside in the patio on the street so you can soak up the atmosphere of the Old Town while you eat.
To start, I recommend getting the smoked burrata and prosciutto appetizer! I’ve had both of these foods many times before, but the local meat and cheese were an outstanding pair. For the main, the duck salad is outstanding, as are most of the dishes on the menu! To finish your meal, you have to get the cheesecake. It’s not a typical New York style cheesecake. This cheesecake is made up of apples, walnuts, and poppy seeds, and it’s not too sweet. The cheesecake is so good that we got it both nights, and I still think about it!
