A Week at Misincu Hotel in Corsica
Luxury at its best
This summer one of my dearest friends got married in Corisca! So I jumped on a plane and headed to this luxurious destination for a weekend of my dreams!
Where We Stayed
Hotel Miniscu
One of the only luxury hotels on the rugged and beautiful Cap Corse. Expect a modern luxury-meets-beachcomber vibe - it's the kind of place you'll feel comfortable walking around barefoot. A slice of its own beach with a restaurant makes it picture perfect.
Hidden away among wild olive groves and palm trees, the 70-acre retreat isn’t exactly new—for decades, the estate on the tip of the Cap Corso peninsula served as a quiet celebrity’s getaway, hosting everyone from Brigitte Bardot to French actor Alain Delon. Last summer, following a top-to-bottom renovation by the Greek-born, London-based designer Olympia Zographos, the classic getaway is the Mediterranean’s hottest new hotel.
It was on the pricier side at €280 (£250) for a room and villas from €500 (£443), so I would recommend you choose this place for a VERY special occasion.
Alongside the hotel’s stretch of private beach, there is a boat that can take guests to hidden creeks, beaches and other islands (such as the Italian island of Elba). Diving courses, water-skiing, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding can also be arranged with a local company. There’s a pool, lined with comfortable cushioned loungers, plus a spa in a separate building with a small pool and a treatment room, with facials by cult skincare brand Spa Biologique Recherche and an extensive massage menu. There’s also a shop selling chic beach hats, olive oil and the like.
What we did
Like I said Alongside the hotel’s stretch of private beach, there is a boat that can take guests to hidden creeks, beaches, and other islands. We rented a boat for a day, grabbed the drone and just let the captain take us to wherever he sae fit. We wanted a surprise and a day of no worries after the wild wedding.
Where we ate
The menus at both restaurants at the hotel were to die for and honestly we never even left the grounds to eat.
Tra Do No Restaurant:
Much more upscale, we had courgette flowers served with herbs, oranges and strawberries (all from the chef’s kitchen garden), lobster from nearby fishing village Centuri, bottarga from Bastia, sea urchin and spider crabs. The signature dish is octopus and langoustine fritters with chimichurri – best enjoyed on the big sea-facing terrace.
A Spartera Beach restaurant:
Much more laid back, the Spartera Beach restaurant, open all day, serving fresh lobsters and fish on a charcoal grill. This was more our style as we loved the earthiness of eating fresh-caught seafood in our bikinis.
