Boating Along The Amazon River
From Belem to Colombia boarder
We moved towards Colombia, crossing a big part of the Amazon, via the Rio Grande and Rio Negro rivers. We spent almost 20 days on boats, buses, and any other method of transportation available. We travelled in a not-so-small boat, and the rivers were huge, so it wasn’t easy to see tropical animals. If you’re expecting an "Indiana Jones expedition" you'll be disappointed. But to us, it was worth it! I did a lot of writing during those days, lulled by the river and clatter of the boat. Once or twice in a day, you have a chance to land and visit very small villages, where people live in a simple and uncontaminated way.
Once again, watching the sun setting over the water, or rising through the tropical forest, is an awesome sight to see, and the soft sounds of nature in the night will make you sleep like a baby.
This is just a little part of Cearà, the north-eastern part of Brazil. This country is so huge and varied that it will surprise you at every corner. Each region is different from the one next to it, so take a long breath (and a long work break) and take a dive into this amazing place.
