Road Trip to Milos Island
Milos, Greece
I know everybody thinks of Mykonos and Santorini when you mention Greece but believe me, Milos can satisfy all types of travelers and especially those who seek to get off the beaten path and avoid the big crowds. You can rent a car for a very affordable price (around 35 Euros for one day) right next to Fenerbahce's Harbor (which is the town where our ferry left us) and explore the island on your own. Even if you only have one day to spend in this little known island, I recommend renting a car and going straight to one of the most amazing and unique beaches I've seen in my life: Sarakiniko Beach.
You can't miss this moon-like landscape next to the bluest Mediterranean sea. Take your time to explore all the unusual rock formations around the site and leave the tourists behind. You won't regret it since you'll find better places with no one around. There's even a jumping point where you can jump into the cold water and climb back out again. It will feel like if you were on Mars but really you're in Greece...which is much better!
