Nairobi elephant orphanage

David sheldrick trust runs a sanctuary in the Nairobi National park that hand-rears orphaned elephant calves and later realeases them back to the wild. It is about 15Kms from the CBD. The young elephants are mostly rescued after their mothers die from from poaching,human-wildlife conflict or natural deaths. They are reared here until they are of age and are released back to the wild.
