The Algarve, In It’s Best Way!
When you think about Portugal, the beach is what comes to mind. It makes sense when looking for a hotel on your next trip here that you find one as close as possible to the ocean. I used to think the same way until I stayed at Hotel Vila Monte Farm House, which is an exception to this rule
The resort is located (by car) around 25 minutes from Faro Airport and 15 minutes from the closest beach, so quite an ideal location that doesn’t require you to drive long distances. Once you enter the resort, you instantly get a calm and peaceful vibe. The reception area is a big open space with high ceilings and white colors to make you feel straight at home.
One of the front desk members showed me around the complex, and that was the moment I started to think to myself that I would not leave the hotel at all. The resort is very spacious, with lots of greenery, trees, beautiful pathways for walks, a gym, one pool to be used for everyone, and another one just for adults.
What I love the most here is that they put a lot of effort into making sure the customers have everything at their disposal to facilitate a perfect stay. If you feel like leaving the hotel to enjoy other aspects of Algarve, they have a list of experiences for you to enjoy. These range from gourmet picnics at a deserted beach, horse riding in a lagoon, cooking classes, harvesting fresh seafood with a fisherman, visiting nearby wineries for tastings, and many more.
Something important to me when staying at a hotel is the food. And wow, I wasn’t disappointed at Vila Monte Farm House. They serve a fantastic breakfast and have two restaurants, “ A Terra “ and “Laranjal.” For me, “A Terra” was incredible and a great gastronomic experience. I went for the catch of the day, which was a grilled grouper fillet with roasted vegetables, genuinely great flavor. They served me a bottle of Terras do Grifo white wine, which was divine. The best part was yet to come, the dessert! The lemon meringue pie with vanilla cream and rosemary ice cream was probably the best dessert I have ever eaten in Portugal. And I’m Portuguese, and therefore eat many many sweets :)
The rooms here are also perfectly decorated to provide you, like the rest of the resort, a feeling of peacefulness and being at home. Very spacious with beautiful white walls and furniture with some rustic elements. The bed was a real dream, providing the best night sleep.
If you are looking for a hotel in Algarve that is away from the crowds and that makes you feel like you are on a relaxed holiday with everything you are interested in at your fingertips, then this is the hotel for you! I can say with certainty that you will enjoy it as much I did..
