Seattle With Kids
Family friendly activities in Seattle Washington
We took a family vacation to Seattle and were excited to discover so many family-friendly activities to do. Our first stop was Pike Place Market where we browsed through the stalls, sampled fresh fruit and watched fish being thrown at the Fish Market. We also fed coins to “Rachel”, the 550 lb piggy bank and grabbed a donut at the Daily Dozen Donut Company.
Of course, no stop to Seattle is complete without a visit to the infamous gum wall. It started in the early 90’s by people waiting in line to get tickets to the theater. Despite several attempts to clean it up, it keeps coming back as an oddly beloved tourist attraction.
The Freemont Bridge Troll is another quirky tourist attraction that is visited by millions. This sculpture was a winning design from a contest put on by the city in an effort to clean up and rehabilitate the area under the Aurora Ave Bridge. My kids loved climbing on this oversized troll!
For the best views of the city, we headed up to Kerry Park. This small city park has a playground and spectacular panoramic views over the city. It is especially beautiful at sunset when the lights of the city start to glitter.
We spent a few hours at the Museum of Flight where we got to board a retired Air Force One plane, as well as a real space shuttle.
Gas Works Park was a great place to let our kids run around and get their energy out. This area was once an old gas processing plant but has now been turned into an expansive city park. There are structures to climb on and grassy lawns perfect for a picnic, if it's not raining!
We ended our trip with a visit to the iconic Space Needle. We soaked in the impressive views from the rotating glass floor and ate lunch at the upper observation deck cafe. We loved exploring this beautiful city!
