Living in Bali as a Digital Nomad
Indonesia // 2018
In 2018 I spent six months being based in bali as an adventure photographer and digital content creator – it was the most productive and self-development filled period of my life. I met some of the most incredible and talented people I know, and have found endless sources of inspiration there in all forms. The culture, the energy, the nature, the light, the people, the lifestyle. The list could go on and on! It is becoming easier and cheaper to get to bali on a trip due to the competition amongst airlines.
Personally I don’t go to Seminyak or Kuta unless I have to for something specific. For me it’s just not what Bali is about. Just north of there, there are some oceanfront towns that host incredible vibes all year round. In central Bali you find Ubud and surrounding villages which offer a beautiful insight into dense exotic jungles and agricultural masterpiece rice plantations. An abundance of jungle vibe hotels and resorts, and delicious local eateries all over the place. Head up north and along the way you will find hundreds of waterfalls in all shapes and sizes! Keep going north and you’ll find a colder climate with mountainous and volcanic landscapes covered in dark green pine forest and endless agricultural practices! From there head East toward the Majestic Mt. Agung for even more incredible views. The Island honestly has something for every taste!
Couldn’t recommend visiting enough, as it really packs a serious punch and will let you get lost in so many different types of nature and surroundings! Can’t explain enough how great it feels to be able to experience so many different things, all within such close proximity of each other just being getting around on a scooter! Of course you must have an Indonesian License, or International License, to legally drive around on them - but with planning, this isn't a problem!
I haven’t even mentioned the food but maybe we should save that for another time because that’s a whole discussion of its own. In short though, Bali is the place where I have probably eaten the most delicious food I have ever tried, and the prices are amazing!!
Overall, Bali won my heart and its a great place to go for so many reasons! I will be sharing more stories about specific missions, favorite photo spots, and things not to miss!
