Namaste at the Beach
Yoga through The Studio outside the studio.
Presented with a rare kid-free morning on family vacation (courtesy of my parents, a.k.a. Pap and MiMa), we were tempted to sleep late. Parenthood, however, has conditioned us to embrace life as early risers. So in lieu of our normally chaotic kid-filled mornings, my husband and I decided to start off our day with tranquil sunrise beach yoga.
Sunrise beach yoga incorporates the serenity of daybreak with the peacefulness of yoga practice. The soundtrack of waves lapping the shoreline and scent of ocean air immediately transported us into a state of mindfulness as we transitioned through a variety of relaxing stretches and yoga sequences structured for all skill levels.
You don't need to bring much with you for beach yoga — just a beach towel or blanket, bottle of water, and sunscreen. Classes are $15 through The Studio and can be pre-booked online or paid in cash the morning of class.
Class takes place May - September at the pier by mile marker 11.5. There are plenty of nearby eateries and coffee shops to grab breakfast, or at least a little caffeine, afterward.
