BAO London
Our Review By Hero Traveler @elizabetheverywhere
For the best bao buns of your life, you have to visit BAO in London. I’m somewhat of a bao bun connoisseur, and while I’ve yet to try a bun I didn’t like, this Michelin rated Taiwanese restaurant really takes the cake. BAO has three London locations – BAO Soho, BAO Fitzrovia, and the BAO Bar.
The restaurants have simple interiors, with seats around the bar and along the windows, keeping the max capacity to around a few dozen patrons at a time. The menu lists large and small plates along with buns, and even though it is limited, everything is delicious. Last time I went to BAO Fitzrovia, I got the kale salad to start, which was so good. After that, I had the Taiwanese fried chicken, which was absolutely incredible (and a must order if you visit). For my buns, I chose the Confit, Classic, and Shortrib buns – and they were all great.
The menu also features a number of really cool drink options (both alcoholic and nonalcoholic). This is a restaurant that I love to taking visitors to when they come to London because it’s really delicious and unique.
