FERRY ON THE LAKE OF GARDA
Leave the traffic and the noise of the crowded cities behind and discover a slow, old fashioned way of traveling on the water with a ferry! Visiting the Lake of Garda and sailing its waters is probably one of the best ways to discover this place and meet new people. There are two main summer lines that cross the lake: one that goes from Desenzano del Garda to Riva del Garda and one that links Torri del Benaco to Maderno.
The first allows you to visit some of the most attractive spots of the lower lake, and to travel up to the very North, while the latter allows you to cross the lake from East to West and return. The ferry gives you a different, beautiful perspective of the territory, allowing a better understanding of the geography and history of this interesting region.
My tip is to ask at the ticket shop if the historical ferry named “Italia” is in service as you will prefer this boat to the modern ones. You will have a chance to breathe in the atmosphere of the Italian belle époque while sailing on this beginning-o-XX- century ferry. Get fascinated by its brass shiny decorations, its old teak decks and the refined root surfaces.
